Thank you Sr Angela Ryan

Angela Ryan csb

As Angela steps down from her role as a Director of the KEM Board, it is important to reflect, albeit in a small way, on her contribution to education and to the Catholic church.

Educated at Kilbreda College in Mentone, she loved her own school days and took that delight with her throughout her career. She has been a wonderful teacher and Principal. Angela brought strength to her leadership, acting always on a sound vision of what good education should be for young people. Her values have reflected consistently Brigidine values and she brought purpose, understanding, joy, faithfulness and sincere compassion to these roles in more than one state across Australia.

Later in her career, Angela worked as Executive Office of National Professional Standards. At a time when the church desperately needed people of perception and integrity to address the problems of abuse, Angela answered the call. Never simple nor routine, her work challenged all of us to greater empathy and compassion for victims and to demand better standards and actions on behalf of young people. Angela’s legacy in this field is felt to this day and has been acknowledged by the Federal Government in the recent Honour’s List.

Kildare Ministries has much for which to be grateful to Angela. Deeply involved in the many years of dreaming and planning for this MPJP, she shared her wisdom and experience in the lengthy preparations for the establishment of Kildare Ministries education and its financial planning. A pragmatist, Angela has influenced much of what we experience today across KM. As a Board member she has been astute, asking discerning questions at meetings and her contributions to KEM’s Finance and Audit Committee have been crucial for financial stability and good governance. Ever humble, Angela will never talk much of her achievements but we who benefit from those feats and hard work will be forever grateful.

Thank-you Angela, for all you have done to ensure the success of Kildare Education Ministries.
