Week 6 ~ Term 3 ~ 2022
Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together by celebrating Book Week. This year’s event will be celebrated between 15-19 August at Holy Name, with the wonderful theme of “Dreaming with eyes open...”.
Below is a list of some of the fun things on offer that week, however more information will come around on Class Dojo in the coming weeks.
As we have previously done, we will be inviting all parents and families to come into our classrooms to share their favourite books. Have a think about some family favourites that you can bring along and share some quality reading time in your child's classroom. There will also be lots of competitions running during Week 6 that the whole family can enjoy!
Our most anticipated annual Book Week Parade will be hosted once again in our very own school hall. The date will be advised soon on Class Dojo.
You have a few weeks to organise a costume and the opportunities are endless. You can choose to use the theme as inspiration, or a character from a book. Check out some of the standout costumes from 2021 below.
We are happy to help out at the school, if you need us. Just talk to your child’s teacher. Don’t forget to look in your closets, old costume boxes, pantry, or shed for recyclable materials, and be as creative as you can be!!!
On Wednesday 17th August, we have a children's book author, Nicky Johnston, coming in to share some of her exciting experiences with the children, and inspire them in their literacy learning. Families have an opportunity to pre-purchase books before August 3rd, and these will be delivered to the school so that Nicky can sign them personally. See the flyer below for more information, and click here to buy books.
