SALA exhibition

This year is the first year our school has been registered for the SALA festival.

SALA stands for the South Australian Living Arts festival and is held each August every year and runs for the entire month. This year is their 25th anniversary. SALA showcases a diverse range of art works from professional, amateur and student artists.

In conjunction with Armada Arndale who has supported our exhibition, I would like to say a big thank you. Our exhibition runs for the month of August and so there is plenty of time for you to pop in and admire these wonderful art works selected for the exhibition. They show case a range of ages, techniques, materials and skills which support and develop the Visual Arts learning for our students.

I would like to congratulate the following students who currently have their work on display. I will also be adding to the succulent project as the year 5 and 6 students complete their projects.

A big congratulations to the following students who should feel proud that many in our community will be viewing their fabulous work.

First 100 days of school

Our Reception students celebrated an important milestone in week 1 - their first 100 days of school! All of the classes have been counting the days of school throughout the year and completed commemorative activities in their own classrooms, but the four classes were not able to celebrate as a single cohort this year due to the timing of swimming.

We look forward to the next 100 days with all our little (and big) learners.

Developing 'belonging' in the Children's Centre

Children continue to be supported in the Preschool with developing their relationships with others, particularly through dramatic and symbolic home play.

A learning intention for this term is to foster children's identity development and sense of belonging to various communities, supporting inclusion and respect for diversity within and outside of each individual's communities. We will be scaffolding learning and conversations around different identities; specifically, children's family make-up, religions, languages, and gender.

As part of this big idea, the Preschool will be using the text "This is our house" by Michael Rosen along with supplementary non fiction texts to discuss and extend children's understanding of diversity and inclusion, while intentionally teaching tier 2 inclusion-based vocabulary . "This is our house" is also supporting our Child Protection Curriculum planning in Focus area 2: Relationships.
