A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Writing Focus

We have a whole school focus on helping the students produce quality pieces of writing. This process begins in Kindergarten with students writing simple sentences. In Year 1 and 2 the students progress to adding more detail to their sentences. One of the joys of my position as Principal is congratulating the students when they share a writing sample with me.

Kindergarten

After reading Farmer Brown’s book; the students wrote a sentence to Farmer Brown on behalf of the animals.

Kden:   Dear Farmer Brown,

We need a surfboard to surf on.

               From the ducks.

Indi:     Dear Farmer Brown,

We need a diving board because the pond is boring.

              From the ducks.

Lachie:  Dear Farmer Brown,

We need computers to watch ‘Ark Evolve’.

                 From the cows.

Lyncin:   Dear Farmer Brown,

We need an electric blanket to keep warm.

                 From the cows.

Our clever Kinder students are also learning how to type up their sentences on a chrome book.

Year 1 / 2

The students were given a picture of a city at night to give them inspiration to write a sentence.

Patrick:  One night I could not sleep so mum told me a story.

Kendall:  One beautiful night at the city all of the pretty lights were shining in the sky.

Molly:  The astonishing lights were shimmering down at the giant houses.

Brooklyn:  Once I was trying to sleep in my bed but I couldn't because I could hear loud noises.

The Wizard of Oz

The costumes we ordered have arrived and rehearsals are well underway for our school play. Don’t forget to save the date Thursday 1st September, 6.30pm for our grand performance. Tomorrow we visit the Royal Theatre so the students can become familiar with the venue they will be performing our school play in.

PT & F

Our next meeting will be held this Wednesday 3rd August at 6.00pm via zoom. I hope to see many parents attending. Please use this link
