Principal's Notes

Dear Parents and Families,

Just a reminder that MONDAY 1st August is a normal school day for all students and staff with the buses running as well. Sheepvention is now open all day on the Sunday for families to enjoy, so we have decided not to have a student-free day as in previous years.

HOOP TIME

Congratulations to all our Year 5 & 6 students for their efforts and enthusiasm at Hoop Time on Monday. We only have two students that play competition basketball at school here, so for our Future Stars to reach the semi-finals is a big achievement. Our Rookies team performed well with many new skills learned and an opportunity to try a different sport.  Special thanks to Mrs Brabham and Mr Hill for coaching on the day. Also, thanks to our many parents that watched on the day or assisted in scoring.

Mental Health Funding

All government school have received some funding for improving the mental health and well-being for students after the interrupted years of schooling they have had. On Wednesday, Tammy attended an online session on how the school is able to budget and use this funding. In the coming weeks, I have some further training on how we can plan and organise this funding in school as well. This initiative and commitment from the Department of Education is continuing for the next two years as well.

Principal Wellbeing Series Breakfast

This morning I attended a breakfast at Gray St Primary School in Hamilton with other district principals.  We will be having another three sessions over the the remainder of the year, where we were will inquiring into the science of wellbeing, how we apply this to ourselves and in our roles. Chris Egan, a wellbeing consultant will be leading this with our group.

Hot Dog treat day

Merryn will come to school next Wednesday ( August 3rd) to organise a hot dog treat day for students and staff.  There will be no cost for this.

COVID RAT tests

A reminder to all families that if you have children who are unwell they should remain at home and whilst the twice weekly RAT testing is now not required, testing your child when symptomatic is encouraged. We will not be sending home any more RAT kits on a fortnightly basis but if your child requires more, they are readily available from the office. Also please remember to inform us if your child does test positive to COVID,  so we can inform others to look out for symptoms in their own children.

Have a lovely weekend,
