In the Art / Craft Room

Art

We are making great progress on our felting and textile unit, with each class working towards completing their various projects. The students in prep are finishing off their stitched hessian bags and are starting to learn how to finger knit a strap for their bags. The one/two students have completed their sock toys and have begun work on their felting. They have needle and wet felted butterflies with beautiful patterns and details. Grade three/four have completed wet felting their circular toys and have begun stitching the extra details on their designs. Grade five and six classes have had a fantastic time wet felting and forming the sides of their bowls. They are all looking very impressive.  We have also painted our clay Pop Art from term two and these are looking amazing.

We also celebrated NAIDOC in the art room by creating clay nature inspired bowls and plaques. Students in classes three/four had a fantastic time pressing native plants into clay to create incised patterns and shapes.

The Arts Festival team is very busy working behind the scenes organising this exciting day.  Watch out for any information coming out regarding class stalls and how you can help.

Craft Newsletter Term 3 August 2022

It has been a very busy term three with students making great progress to complete their craft projects. Prep students are completing their finger knitting so these can be attached to their completed hessian stitched bags. Preps have also started a simple woven work on a cardboard loom. Class one is continuing to work on the recorder bags and class two have completed theirs. Class two have begun to learn knitting starting with the simple garter stitch.  Class three have completed their stitched sunray cushions, and have begun working on their knitting project to make a knitted toy.  Class four/five and five/six are continuing to work on their various knitting projects that we began last year late in term four.

All students in class two to six will be working on their knitting projects in term three, so we will need lots of adults to assist with supporting students to learn knitting. If you are able to help please come along and support the craft program. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.

We also celebrated NAIDOC in the art room by creating clay nature inspired bowls and plaques. Students in classes three/four had a fantastic time pressing native plants into clay to create incised patterns and shapes.
