Inquiry Centre

Curriculum
Selamat Siang. Even though this week was short, we have been very busy in the Inquiry Centre. Students have enjoyed sharing their plans for their extra-long weekend.
During Reading sessions this week, each class has explored a different author. Students have enjoyed learning lots of interesting information about them as well as reading lots of books that they have written. It was interesting to find the similarities and differences in each author’s work.
During Writing sessions this week, students have begun planning and drafting their own narratives. Over the next two weeks, students will follow the writing process to complete their narrative, sharing it with their peers and offering feedback, advice, and ideas to enhance their work. It is wonderful to see how excited students are to work through this process and we cannot wait to see their published pieces next week.
In Maths, the Inquiry Centre has focused on time this week. Students have been exploring different ways to show time using both analog and digital clocks. Students have shown perseverance as they begin to investigate new times such as half-past and quarter-past/to. It was amazing to see students challenging themselves even further to begin working out the differences between the two times using strategies such as number lines and our mini-yellow clocks in the classroom.
Students have also enjoyed working in the kitchen this term as part of our kitchen garden program. This week students have been working on their cutting skills making some delicious apple pastries!
Have a great week from the 1/2 Team!
