Principal's Message

Term 3 Week 6 2022

Congratulations Sue Moore on your Retirement

It is with sadness and also the understanding of a great era coming to a close. Sue has been with the school for twenty years and in that time has not only been instrumental in the achievements of the school but been integral to the development of our school into the wonderful place of learning it is. We are currently in the process of advertising for a replacement (if that’s possible!) In the mean time we are looking to honour Sue and her contribution to our school and ensure there is a fitting farewell as Sue finishes at the end of this term.

Please get in contact if you would like to be involved in the organisation of this event.

Introducing…Mr Shaw and Miss Nelson as our Child Safety Champions for MPRPS. The main role of the Child Safety Champion is to work with teachers, students and the school community to continue to support a child safe environment at MPRPS. Their key responsibilities are to:

  • Promote a child safe environment
  • Provide support and guidance to students, staff and volunteers
  • Train and educate staff and volunteers
  • Monitor, review and report

Although Mr Shaw and Miss Nelson are our official Child Safety Champions it is important to note that all staff at MPRPS are strongly committed to continuing to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all our students. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Community Connections with SEDA College

We had a visit from Year 11 & 12 SEDA College students on Friday 5th August during Year 3 - 6 sport sessions. The 25 SEDA students facilitated an amazing hour of fun and engaging basketball activities for our students, which resulted in positive connections filled with fun, fitness and joy. The laughter, cheers, encouragement, sportsmanship and leadership displayed by the SEDA students connected with our students who joined in with the spirit of the day. Due to the overwhelming success in this newly formed relationship with both our students and SEDA students, we are looking at building stronger partnerships to continue connecting positively with our community and offering opportunities to participate in this amazing initiative.

Our school is also extremely grateful to have Patrick Naismith from SEDA College who has been working alongside Mrs Butterworth in P.E for the last year and now extending his education experience immersing in the classroom environment in 5/6W with Ms Walker. Pat is completing his work experience every Tuesday where he has aspirations to become a teacher in the future. His growth from when he started his work experience has been incredible and we have loved being part of his journey where he has gained valuable knowledge, built strong relationships and has become part of our team. Pat is an asset to our school and is a hero to many of our students.

Treesje Butterworth

Congratulations Mrs Sutherland!

Congratulations to Emily and Brent on the safe arrival of Oliver Glen Sutherland born 7/8/22 at 5:46pm weighing 3110g and 46cm long. Everyone is doing really well and looking forward to introducing Oliver to Will, his big brother.

I’m excited to share with you that Kneeler Design Architects has been appointed to work on the 9.982 million school upgrade project at our school.

The architects will work closely with our school and the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to develop designs for our project. The project will modernise the school to give students better learning opportunities. This includes upgrading classrooms in Building 1.

Once these designs are endorsed by the school and approved by the VSBA and Department, our project will then progress into the final stages of design development which will see the project really begin to take shape!

The VSBA will work closely with our school to ensure our community continues to be updated as the project progresses.

I look forward to sharing more details with you soon.

If you have any further questions about the works at MPRPS, you can phone the VSBA on 1800 896 950, email vsba@education.vic.gov.au or visit the website:  https://www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/mount-pleasant-road-nunawading-primary-school

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 2nd September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
