Week 6 ~ Term 3 ~ 2022
Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together by celebrating Book Week. This year’s event will be celebrated between 15-19 August at Holy Name, with the wonderful theme of “Dreaming With Eyes Open...”.
Below is a list of some of the fun things on offer in Week 6.
Our most anticipated annual Book Week Parade will be hosted once again in our very own school hall on TUESDAY 16th of August 2022.
You have a few more weeks to organise a costume and the opportunities are endless. You can choose to use the theme as inspiration, or a character from a book. Don't forget to bring your book with you to the parade! Check out some of the standout costumes from 2021 below.
We are happy to help out at the school, if you need us. Just talk to your child’s teacher. Don’t forget to look in your closets, old costume boxes, pantry, or shed for recyclable materials, and be as creative as you can be!!!
Once again, there will be lots of competitions running during Week 6 that the whole family can enjoy! Keep an eye on Class Dojo during Book Week for more information on what to do and how to enter.
As in previous years, we are inviting all parents and families to come into our classrooms to share their favourite books on Friday 19th of August from 3pm. Have a think about some family favourites that you can bring along, and share some quality reading time in your child's classroom.
On Wednesday 17th August, we have a children's book author, Nicky Johnston, coming in to share some of her exciting experiences with the children, and inspire them in their literacy learning. We hope you had a chance to pre-order some books before yesterday's cut off, but don't worry if you didn't, you can order some after Nicky's visit. See the flyer below for more information, and click here to buy books.
