Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

Amen

                                         Feast of Mary MacKillop

On Monday 8th August it is Mary MacKillop’s feast day.

Mary MacKillop was the first saint of Australia and is also known as St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Mary was born on 15th January 1842 in Fitzroy Melbourne and died on 8th August 1909 in Sydney. She is most well known for her service to the poor, especially her commitment to provide education to children who were part of poor families.

Mary was the co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

At St Mary’s Primary School, we remember Mary MacKillop and celebrate her achievements. As St Mary’s was founded by the Josephites, it is important that we acknowledge the significance of Mary MacKillop’s actions and the direct effect on all schools founded by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

As part of our recognition of Mary, this year we will be travelling to St Joseph’s Primary School, Nagambie, which is another Josephite school. Together we will engage in activities and learn about Mary MacKillop.

A permission form is currently available on PAM regarding this excursion.

Please ensure that it is filled out by Friday 5th August.
