From the Senior School Sports Master
As we head in to a very well earned “end of year’ break can I take this final opportunity to thank you all, as members of the St Pius X College community, for the support you have given to the College sports programs in 2021.
It has been another year of huge challenges and we hope that 2022 is less disrupted. Our Summer sports teams have prepared well for the Term 1 competition and will head in to the break confident that they are ready for ISA sport on our return.
Competition starts immediately when we resume in 2022.
- Senior Swimming Carnival is on Day 2 of Term 1 – 1 February 2022. More details on this event will be posted closer to the day.
- District Cricket resumes late in January.
- ISA competitions begin on Saturday 5th February.
- We have yet to receive a start date for NSTA Tennis but anticipate a 12 February start.
Please ensure that your sons have the correct uniform for their sports. Please check in the Uniform Shop page later in this Woodchatta for Opening Hours.
In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas and a great break as we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Mr Matt Stearn - Senior Sports Master

Squash
NSW Squash Junior Pennant One Day Tournament: Saturday 27 November at Thornleigh Squash Centre.
On a wet Saturday morning, our players represented SPX against players from other schools including Barker, Knox and St Andrews Cathedral. Our nine representatives included students from Year 7 to Year 11; ranging from beginners to more experienced players.
Our top two players met in the Div. 7 Grand Final with Lachlan Giang (Yr 10) defeating Oliver Mullen (Yr 10) in a tight match. Lucas Wong (Yr 10) was runner up in Div. 9; Dylan Moore (Yr 10) won his play-off match for third position in Div. 8 and Dominic McLachlan (Yr 7) enjoyed his first taste of competitive squash.
Congratulations to all SPX representatives for displaying good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Next year the SPX summer squash season re-commences in a new format; so, any players interested should keep up their skills over the Christmas break and be ready to register early in the school year.
