Year Adviser News

Year 7 Year Adviser

Allyssia Lloyd

And just like that the first year of high school is over for year 7. Not only did they have to navigate a new schooling environment and create new relationships, but just as they started to settle into the routine of high school, the COVID-19 pandemic re-emerged and learning from home began.

2021 has been a year like no other with immense changes and challenges. I feel very privileged to have witnessed the resilience and maturity among this cohort. I would like to acknowledge Mrs Azzi as Assistant Year Advisor and Mr Khan as Head Teacher, for all the hard work and dedication shown throughout the year.

Wishing you all a safe and happy break. I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Year 8 Year Adviser

Gemma Hanlon

So ends the second year of high school for Year 8 in 2021. This year has again been a challenging year as we faced another extended lockdown and online learning, but I have been able to witness high levels of maturity among this cohort as they engaged positively at school and when learning from home.

While Year 8 have not had a year of high school that have not been in lockdown, they have faced these challenges head on and we are looking forward to 2022 being a normal year.

Congratulations to Char-lee, Manavi, Christian and Mia  for receiving first in course, and Lachlan, Joey and Char-lee for receiving sports awards.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday and see you all in 2022.

Year 9 Year Adviser

Maati El Hafiane

To my Year 9s,

What a year this has been. I would like to begin by congratulating you all on surviving such an unpredictable year. I would like to commend the way you all completed your schoolwork during lockdown, participated in lessons online and engaged in year meetings and the BACC school engagement program.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Elliott who has been assistant Year Adviser this year and for all her hard work and dedication she has shown Year 9. This year group was extremely lucky to have your support and the new Year 7 cohort are extremely privileged to have such an amazing Year Adviser like you. Next year we are welcoming back Ms Espejel who will be returning from maternity leave. I'm sure all Year 9 are excited to see her again.

2022 is a new year, a new challenge, and a new time to make great memories. I wish you and your families all the best over the school holidays and I'm looking forward to seeing you all next year.

Year 10 Year Adviser

Mr Murphy

So we have reached the close of another interesting year at Evans High School. I have said this previously, but I would just like to reiterate how proud I am of every single Year 10 student for the enthusiastic and mature way that they have approached the last term of their junior schooling in what has proven to be a challenging and ever-changing environment. It is hard to believe that in a few short weeks, students will be walking through the front gate in their white shirts ready to begin the final two years of their schooling. It seems like just yesterday that I was standing before all of you, giving you an explaining how things work in Year 7! We have all come a long way together.

Moving forward, I would ask parents to please keep an eye out on the school's social media pages for any announcements regarding Year 11 preparation (uniform, resources etc). Also, please ensure that parents and students use this time to rest, recharge and come back enthusiastic and ready to tackle the challenges that await. I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Year 11 Year Adviser

Melissa Silva

This year has been a difficult and challenging year for Year 11. Not only did students adapt to the ever-changing circumstances of COVID 19, but they also embraced their senior studies with a mature and positive attitude.

I look forward to watching my year group complete their HSC and graduate in 2022. I would like to acknowledge Mr Tamayo as Assistant Year Advisor, for all the hard work he’s shown throughout the year.

Year 12 Year Adviser

Stephen Satmaka

Hello Year 12! To say the last two years have been challenging for the class of 2021 has to be an understatement. Between lockdowns and remote learning, my year group have had to rise to the occasion and achieve the goals of the final years of their school education.

I have two words that come to mind with this year group: resilience and tenacity which I feel this amazing group of young adults have in spades. It has been an honour to be your year advisor and wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavours.

It was fantastic to see all of you the other day at sign out day and it’s just one step closer to moving into the next stage of your life. So all that remains is graduation and formal/reunion night. I am aware that we will be doing it next year and that may feel a bit counter intuitive but trust me guys, it will be lovely to reunite and catch up next year. I am in the process of planning everything based on your positive responses from the informal poll I took while I was signing you out.

It is important that you stay in touch and connected to make sure that we plan this for next year. Always check emails and the Google Classroom for further updates.
