Joel Berry - Congratulations

and Thanks ! 

Joel Berry is the current President of the St Virgil’s Old Scholars Football Club and has played a leading role in turning the club around from perennial cellar dwellers to being one of the strongest in the league in 2021 and vying for a premiership in the last game of the year - only to fall agonisingly short.

Joel began with the club in 2016 and has since played a mix of senior and reserve games. Joel took on the Presidency in 2020 and got to work in making the club a powerhouse in the competition again by recruiting the TSL's most decorated player Jay Bowden as Senior coach.

Joel has also been a Junior Coach at the Glenorchy football club and was named best Junior Coach by The Mercury in 2021. In 2019 he was named NAB AFL Auskick Volunteer of the Year.

Although Joel did not attend the College, he went to rival New Town High School, his contributions to the College and to the SVCOSFC are greatly appreciated.

Joel worked as a Learning Support Officer at the College from 2017-2019, and currently works as a Student Counsellor at St Aloysius Catholic College at Kingston and as a Youth Mental Health Specialist for the Karadi Aboriginal Corporation.
