Vale Don Day 

Don was farewelled at a requiem mass at Corpus Christi Church in Bellerive on Thursday November 4.  He was a great servant of that church. He had been a member of St Vincent de Paul for well over forty years, had served on the parish council, the parish finance committee  and had been an acolyte there since 2003.

Assisting Fr Richard Ross ( the Parish Priest as well as the Old Virgilians Chaplain) at the mass were fellow acolytes Don Mills and Laurie Newman  both of whom have also  given great service to the parish.

Regrettably former parish priest Father Peter O’Loughlin, with whom the three acolytes had so closely worked, was unable to be in attendance as he was in hospital.

This was one beautiful human being who has now gone to his God.  To quote from the Mercury tributes: 'Don lived his life with passion, commitment, laughter, humility and dignity but most of all with his faith and love of life, family and all those around him'.
