Year Group Concert Series

As we enter the second half of the term, we look forward to a series of performance opportunities for our students. In pre-COVID times, we would have held our regular program of studio concerts, hearing performances from the studios of our peripatetic teachers and elective classes, in mixed cohorts of students across year  groups. This term, in line with COVID  restrictions, we are holding our inaugural Year Group Lunchtime Concert Series. Students from our private instrumental studios, and our elective classes, and any student with a musical talent to share in the College community, can nominate themselves to perform in year group concerts, via an online form (link below). Our private instrumental teachers will also nominate their students for the relevant year group concert in the series. While at this stage, parents and family may not attend the concerts, the performances will be filmed and shared, and in some cases, live streamed, for families of performers.

Stay tuned for reviews and videos of this concert series in upcoming newsletters. Keep an eye on Compass News and Compass communications for live stream links and links for performances.

Junior School Music

Our Morning Music program has begun for Years 1 and 2. A 5 - 10 program of moving in time to music is supercharging our Stage 1 brains for productive learning and wellbeing. Each morning we learn to keep a beat, hear and recall a rhythm, co-ordinate a range of movements in time to music, differentiate and recall pitches and further develop language cognition through symbol to sound processing in a range of patterns and sequences. It’s a happy fun way to learn, and the students, classroom teachers and I are thriving in it. For me, it’s the best start to a day!

AMEB results and Speech and Drama Eisteddfod

I know so many of our students have completed AMEB exams through private studios and taken out prizes in the Wagga Speech and Drama Eisteddfod. I’d love to sing their praises in the newsletter next week. Students and parents can fill out this form to let me know your results in either forum.
