No Bull Future

Leaders Program

Throughout Term 3, a group of ten Year 9 students had the pleasure of working with Ethan from No Bull, a not-for-profit volunteer organisation. Many of the high school students are familiar with them through the weekly lunchtime activities they hold on Fridays. Despite the uncertainties of lockdown during this stressful time, the ten students continued to attend their leadership training sessions through Zoom and maintained their motivation throughout.

No Bull and the students covered five different topics throughout their sessions, including: An Introduction to Leadership & the Character of a Leader, Self-Leadership & Time Management, Teamwork & Leading a Team, Communication & Language, and Mentoring. While most sessions occurred through Zoom, the students were at least fortunate enough to be onsite for the second session, which proved to be a fun and engaging time. The students also participated in an extra session, to reflect on their experience of the program and Term 3 as a whole, in preparation for an upcoming presentation to external organisations.

The Zoom sessions typically began with a short game to get the students warmed up, followed by Ethan exploring the topics as planned, sometimes bringing in a guest speaker to join the students. The students managed to stay engaged throughout, actively participating in the discussions and activities.

Through Ethan’s mentorship and guidance, the students will experience leadership together through their own session by sharing their knowledge with Jackson School and Scouts. They will be tasked with presenting a few of the topics from their leadership program to the organisations and will be putting together a fun experience for all.

Take care,
