Principal News

WELCOME BACK

Greetings students, parents, guardians and staff. Firstly, we would just like to say how absolutely thrilled we are to have all of our P-9 students back onsite with us, finally!

There has been a real positive vibe around the college since the students started returning and it is so nice to once again hear the children playing out in the yard and the murmurings of working chatter returning to our classrooms.

Brookside College is alive again!

PREP PLAYGROUND

The Prep playground had been completed, and not surprisingly is a huge hit! The playground has really brightened up the Prep and Agora space and our younger students are loving their new play space.

HATS TERM 4

Just a reminder that in Term 4, all students in Prep – Year 6 are required to wear a broad-brimmed hat while outside. Hats are to be worn during all break times and outdoor activities. We also encourage students in Years 7-9 to wear a hat outside.

FACE MASKS

Please remember that it is a requirement that face masks are worn onsite (unless an exemption applies). Students in Years 3-6 students are required to wear a mask while indoors and Year 7-9 students are to wear masks both indoors and outdoors. We ask that students bring a mask from home with them each day. Thank you for your understanding.

PARENTS PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF STUDENTS

For the health and safety of everyone in our school community, we ask that all parents and guardians who attend the College, socially distance by maintaining 1.5m from another adult, wear a face mask; and leave the premises as quickly as possible after dropping off or collecting your child/ren.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Thursday November 11th marks Remembrance Day, a day where we remember and honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. As a college we commemorated this day with a whole College Zoom assembly, hosted by our school captains Jamie-Marie G and Oliver C, and with Year 6 Student Voice Council member Mikayla A reading the Ode of Remembrance. We were also privileged to have local RSL representative Andy Marshall feature at our Zoom assembly and share a detailed backstory of the historical events that bring significance to Remembrance Day.

Year 6 Student Voice Council member, Zara T also represented our Brookside Community at the Caroline Springs RSL Remembrance Day Service. Zara participated in the ceremony by reading a poem, as well as laying a wreath on behalf of the Brookside community.

2022 PREP TRANSITION

Transition begins this week for our 2022 Prep students. Next year’s students will be visiting the College in groups over multiple days and will have the opportunity to meet teachers and future classmates, as well as become familiar with the relevant spaces around the College, such as the Prep classrooms and playground.

EVENTS & ACTIVITES IN TERM 4

We thank our school community for your patience and understanding with the restrictions of running events and activities at this point in time. As a College, we are continuing to plan for events to take place this term, however we must to be guided by the DET Operations Guide of what can and cannot take place. We will continue to keep our school community well informed.

YEARS 6 AND 9 GRADUATION

We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting graduation events for our Year 6 and 9 students. Planning for these events is underway, and we look forward to celebrating in a BIG way, after such a BIG year. Stay tuned for more information.

Take care,

The Executive Team
