PI DAY COMPETITION 2022
This year, McKinnon Secondary College celebrated the momentous Pi Day by running the annual Pi Reciting Competition at both the East Campus and Main Campus. On Tuesday 15 March (East Campus) and Wednesday 16 March (Main Campus), students competed to see who could recite the most decimal places of the irrational number pi.
The top student from each year level would be awarded the title of Year Level Champion.
There were some amazing efforts by students this year; however, no one was able to beat the formidable school record of 1000 digits held by current Year 12 student Chris Liolios. Chris is set to contest his own record next week; stay tuned to hear his final score as a McKinnon student!
Whilst all competing students received a certificate, badge, lollies and house points for their efforts; we have crowned one student as the Champion from each year level.
Congratulations to the following students and staff member:
- Year 7: Vivienne Bernstein (151 digits)
- Year 8: Hamish McAllister (76 digits)
- Year 9: Bella Kaminsky (220 digits)
- Year 10: Divyesh Ojha (103 digits)
- Year 11: Jake Anderson (110 digits)
- Year 12: Chris Liolios (TBD)
- Staff: Dr Sandy Law (150 digits)
A big thank you to all staff involved in running the event, students who competed, and friends who came and cheered on their peers.
We look forward to seeing you all next year!
