TERM 4 - WEEK 8

To the St Nicholas School Community

TERM 4 - WEEK 8

Welcome to another week in the life of St Nicholas School.

As we start the month of December the end of year celebrations are upon us. Tomorrow we celebrate our End of Year Mass, acknowledge our Year 6 Graduates, present our annual awards and announce our student leaders for 2021.

The graduation of our Year 6 students is an incredibly special time for these children and their families. It signifies a wonderful achievement and the start of another milestone in their lives.

As principal of St Nicholas School I am devastated our entire school community, particularly our Year 6 families, can not join us for this experience. I am an enormous believer in families and the school working together to support the student in reaching their vast potential. That families can not join us now to celebrate, is shattering.

COVID restrictions have certainly impacted our lives in 2020, and being prevented from attending your child's graduation is heartbreaking. I hope the live streaming of this service and presentation offers some small consolation.

I am enormously appreciative to our families for their understanding during these difficult times. I feel your frustration, though I also hear your words of support and understanding. Thank you!

First Eucharist

A big congratulation to all our children who made their First Eucharist last weekend. Thank you to the parents and staff who prepared and supported the children over the 4 Masses. We pray that this is the first of many encounters our children have with our Lord Jesus, as they continue to seek to become regular participants at our Mass each week.

Congratulations Bree Constable

An enormous congratulations to Bree Constable on her recently acquired Proficiency status with the NSW Education Standards Authority. Bree is a wonderful young educator and we are lucky to have her at St Nicholas. Congratulations Bree!

2020 Presentation Performances

On Tuesday filming took place for our annual grade performances. With the school community prevented from assembling at the TRECC, this was not going to be used as an excuse to stop our students from showcasing their creative artistic talents.

With a digital platform, we have changed the brief to a more personal focus on our students. While there are so many benefits to performing in front of a live audience, the reality is it only showcases a limited number of students. With a digital platform, varying camera angles and a roaming lens, we are hoping to create a more personal touch.

Please ensure you set aside some time next Thursday evening to sit down with your families and be entertained by our wonderful students, all from the comfort of your very own lounge room.

Uniforms

With sports uniforms being worn 3 days per week from 2021, we have made the decision to move the supply of sports uniforms, hats, and bags to Lowes. We believe having a central location for all uniform items will make life a little easier for our parents. The transition of items will take place from the 14th of December.

Following feedback from our parents regarding the skort we have spoken with Lowes who are investigating a suitable alternative.

Have a great weekend.

John Clery
