Update

Naa Mari,

What a year it has been! 2020 has been a year of challenge and uncertainty. However, the LNPS community has navigated its way through all of this and made certain we have once again had a highly successful year.  I would like to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our wonderful staff at LNPS. Each person's "above and beyond" mindset and commitment ensure our students have the best learning opportunities presented to them, on a daily basis.  Thank you also to all our families and volunteers for their support and flexibility through the year.

Early Years Redevelopment

Next year we are going to be navigating our way through the Early Years Redevelopment.

As was announced in the last newsletter our 1/2 classes have been temporally relocated to Tirkandi and Morphett and all Reception class will be based in Rowell. To begin the year Early Years Science will be based in M6 and R-2 German in M4.  Once the redevelopment begins Early Years Science will be based in Primary Science and R-2 German will be classroom based.

As you would understand this has been a complex move over the past few weeks, however all students and teachers have remained flexible and made the best of their new spaces.

We all need to remember that this is a temporary relocation and that we need to remain as flexible as possible, as in the end we will have an unbelievable new learning space!

2021 Class Structure

Last Friday, Students and families received their class placements for 2021. Staff spend a significant amount of time placing students into class. Placement is guided by the LNPS Class Placement Guidelines and are formed to best meet the needs of the students within the constraints of the resources provided.

In 2021, due to numbers and the Early Years Redevelopment we have had to slightly change our school structure. Classes will be structured  as follows.

Rowell

3 Reception Classes

Mellor (based in Tirkandi and Morphett)

 5 Year 1/2 Classes

Torrens

2 Year 2/3 Classes

2 Year 3/4 Classes

Fisher

3 Year 4/5 Classes

3 Year 6/7 Classes

Our teachers are really excited about the new structure and are looking forward to providing high quality teaching and learning to stretch learners. As with all of our composite classes we work from the point where students are at with their learning and then stretch their learning from there, regardless of year level. This is something that the school and teachers work hard at, so that we can differentiate learning accordingly and focus on growth for every child.

HR Update

It is wonderful that we have been able to retain all of our contract teachers for 2021. This ensures continuity across the site. For this to happen a large amount of negotiation is undertaken with HR which begins back in Term 2.

I would also like to thank Cassie McCaffery who stepped in as our Deputy Principal mid term 1. As we are all aware Cassie has been a huge asset to LNPS.  Her ability to build relationships with students, staff and families and lead in a wide range of areas has been unbelievable.

Thank you, Cassie!

Finally, I am now able to announce that Mirjana Grubor will be returning as Deputy Principal in 2021. This is exciting news, and I am sure she will bring a range of new learning from the Learner Improvement Division, to support our improvement agenda. Mirjana is really excited about returning to LNPS and reconnecting with students, staff, and the community.

Graduation

Last Thursday night we held the 2020 Year 7 Graduation Ceremony in the Gym. This was a showcase event that celebrated student achievement and farewelled our graduating Class of 2020. This is also an opportunity to congratulate  all the students  who achieved High Flyers with Honours.

The celebration was an excellent opportunity to reflect back on the positive impact all Year 7 students have made on the school and to wish them well as they move on to the exciting challenge of high school.

Thank you to all the teachers and parents for the support and direction they have provided to enable this achievement to occur.

To finish the evening a disco was held for the Graduates in the Gym. There was a large amount of quality dance from students and staff. The disco featured our Year 7 students as DJs and even some special guest DJs.

Finally, a huge well done to the teachers involved with the planning of this event.
