Welcome back for 2021. I hope everyone has had a good holiday break and is ready to create some wonderful music this year.
Enrolments for Private Instrumental Lessons 2021 Please ensure that you have submitted your enrolment form ASAP as there are now limited spaces. Enrolment forms are available on your Compass Newsfeed, in the College newsletter (attached below), or from the College office. Thank you to everyone who has already returned their forms.
There are a number of small changes in the above document that you need to be aware of which includes:
- No shared lessons
- Instrumental fees – remain the same charges as 2020
- Billing for 15 lessons per semester (instead of 16)
- Account will be debited for the full year of charges – to enable families to control their budget across the year
- A new email address for all notifications: admin.music@hcc.vic.edu.au.

Piano - Introducing 2 Streams (Classical and Contemporary)
This year we are introducing 2 specific piano streams into our instrumental program. The Classical stream will focus on classical piano pedagogy with the possibility of stepping students through AMEB examinations. While the Contemporary stream will still teach foundational musical theory, it will primarily focus on contemporary style music skills such as improvisation and modern style of music.

Please note that Mrs Jeannie Kwan will be on maternity leave for Semester 1 and Ms Heather Wickes will be replacing her during this time.
Year 8 Classroom Music – Replacing School Band
This year we are introducing a Year 8 music stream where students are given an opportunity to continue learning their concert band instrument as part of the classroom program. This elective stream will now replace the school band, which has been rehearsing on Friday lunchtime.
Senior Band – Year 9 to Year 12 (Thursdays 3:30pm to 4:45pm)
Senior Band is for all Year 9 to Year 12 Woodwind, Brass and Percussion students. Rehearsals will remain after school on Thursdays 3:30pm to 4:45pm.
