Every year we take the opportunity to introduce our new staff to the wider HCC community. We will do this over the next few editions of the newsletter. This week we would love to introduce to you: Ms Natasha Muller and Mr Matthew McGrath.
Natasha Muller
Q1. What subject/s and year level/s do you teach?
I will be teaching Prep at HCC in 2021. I have a Bachelor Degree of Education Majoring in Calculus and I have an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering.
Q2. Where have you taught previously?
Previously I taught at Beaconhills College where I was an alumni staff member, teaching Grades 2 and 4.
Q3. What motivated/led you to becoming a teacher?
After being a Sunday school teacher for many years, I felt that God put it on my heart to work with children daily as I believe God’s purpose for my life is to impact the next generation of Christians. Assisting children to realise God’s purpose for their lives and helping them to achieve their purpose, is something I find truly rewarding as a teacher.
Q4. What were your first impressions of HCC?
So far, I have loved it! Everybody is so kind and welcoming, and I am very excited to see what God has in store for me here at HCC!
Q5. What are your hobbies/extra interests?
I am a huge NRL Melbourne Storm supporter and try not to miss a home game. I also have a background in dance and cheerleading and enjoy afternoons at the beach as well as time spent with my family and friends.
Matthew McGrath
Q1. What subject/s and year level/s do you teach?
I am teaching:
Year 7-12 PE
Grade 5 PE
Year 7,8 &10 Healthy Choices
Year 10 Christian Life
Year 7/8 Outdoor Ed
Year 9/10 Music
Q2. Where have you taught previously?
This is my first year as a teacher. Fresh from uni!
Q3. What motivated/ led you to becoming a teacher?
I have wanted to become a teacher because I have seen firsthand how much of an impact a teacher can have on the life of a young person. I want to influence young people to make positive decisions, to reach their potential and to excel at what it is they want to do after school. Not to mention the privilege that it is to be able to encourage them in their faith journey and to hopefully be a support to them. I want to be a teacher to equip and encourage our students in all areas of a healthy life.
Q4. What were your first impressions of HCC?
So far it has been amazing getting to know everyone involved at HCC. Right from the first moment I met some of the senior staff in my interview, the community and relational culture has come through. I have been able to deal with quite a few different Christian schools and ministries and HCC seems to have a really genuine kindness and care for the families and students that make up the school community.
Q5. What are your hobbies/extra interests?
I love going on adventures in the outdoors such as hiking, diving or kayaking. Just in general I love being out in the outdoors in God’s creation whether going for a run or walk or just getting to see new places. Music is another passion of mine, specifically worship and getting to write and use my creative gifts for God’s glory.
