Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all parents and guardians who ‘attended’ the first ever remote Parent Teacher Interviews earlier this week. While there were a small number of technical issues, it seems that having interviews with teachers from your homes rather than having to venture out into the dark and cold of winter has been quite popular! I hope that the conversations you had with teachers were helpful and that you left with some ideas about how to support your child’s learning during these challenging weeks of pandemic restrictions.

Another evening for Parent Teacher Interviews is scheduled for next Thursday 13 August, from 3:30pm until 8:00pm. If you have not booked any appointments, I encourage you to do so. The booking portal is open until 10pm the night before. Details about how to book interviews and how to access the Zoom meeting links were emailed to all parents and guardians. If you need help with them, please contact ITsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au.

2021 Elective Choices for Students Currently in Years 7 to 9

Students who are currently in Years 7 to 9 will be making decisions about their elective choices next week via a web portal. All parents and students should by now have received information via email about the subjects on offer and details on how to enter their choices.

Please take the time to discuss your child’s choices with him or her, and contact the relevant Assistant Head of School if you need any additional information. I would like to emphasise the importance of choosing subjects the students think they will enjoy, and the value in trying out new areas. The electives program is intended to give students a taste of a wide range of subjects so they can make informed choices about possible future career paths as they move into the final years of school. Sampling a number of subjects before entering VCE or VCAL in Year 11 will help them to be confident about where their skills and interests lay.
