Starting a conversation that never ends

The parents I talked with at our ‘How we Learn’ café meeting on Wednesday evening each had a unique perspective on the topic they brought to the conversation. As teachers, it will come with no surprise that we always enjoy discussing all aspects of what goes on within a school’s learning spaces. By holding the recent gatherings, the conversation has been enriched by the perspective of parents. So, we intend to keep this sort of event as part of our practice every year.

Topics we swapped thoughts on included the importance of handwriting in Junior Primary classes, the relationship and respect between parent and child, whether or not to ‘reward’ your child with money for achieving A grades, semester report comments, whether grades should even be a thing, helping your child learn independence by having them prepare their own lunch and snack each day, increasing student involvement in parent-teacher interview nights and our RISE values.

If you missed last Wednesday, then the next event is next week at the same time and place. You can still book through  https://www.trybooking.com/BKUOG. I am eagerly looking forward to the next opportunity to discuss whatever you would like to or to answer whatever tricky questions you might have!

Have a great weekend.
