Casual Dress Day – Friday 26th June (last day of term)

This Friday, students at our Buninyong Campus are encouraged to come dressed in casual clothes. We invite those wishing and able to help support the children and families of Mphatso to bring a gold coin donation on this day.

Most of you would be aware that over a period of time, we have established a strong relationship with the Mphatso Children’s Foundation in Malawi, Africa. This assists our students to develop global citizenship skills, intercultural awareness, empathy and gratitude.

Our friends at Mphatso are experiencing the effects of COVID-19, like the rest of the world. With no welfare system to fall back on, times are especially tough for them.

Our grade 6 fundraising team will collect any donations before recess and this will be forwarded to Mphatso to help in this incredibly difficult time.

Some recent updates from Malawi have highlighted the strong need for support at this time and we’d like to continue our school’s involvement and assistance of Mphatso:

“Hunger is aggressive and hunting down people, so even though schools are closed due to the impending virus, we have decided to have a feeding program twice a week at the nursery schools. Kids are hungry.”

“Many many workers on reduced hours or no work. No welfare back up so things are extremely tough for families to have food. We have sent food parcels to different families that l know are in dreadful circumstances. I am aware of the needs all over the world, from a distance. But can I ask that you remember how far a little can stretch here. It’s a basic life. If we can provide soap, maize flour people are incredibly blessed.”

“We continue to feed over 80 babies (15 sets of twins), support our 34 women in the Positive Living Group. Provide emergency hospital transport, food parcels, medicine. All because you have kept giving. You may think it is only a little and not worth the effort but it adds to someone else’s and makes a lot!”

“The communities are very very thankful. We are thankful for your support no matter where you live, no matter if your support is through your prayers, kind thoughts or monetary gifts. We are able to do what we do because of you.”

“We have had three babies die in 24 hours. Our little Violet had been on the program for nearly 2 years but just couldn’t thrive. We have had our triplets graduate, reached a healthy weight, if you gave any amount in these past years you helped to do that.”
