Assistant Principal 7 & 8

Mr. Timothy Cottrell

Dear Families,

Our college was abuzz with the return of our year 7 students. It is safe to say that all of us were full of anticipation about rediscovering a more normal school life after weeks of remote learning. I join with all of our staff in heartily congratulating our year 7s. These students really applied themselves to learning remotely as best they could and have now returned to the college with very low absences. Having our students back reminds us of the joy of togetherness and the important part this plays in education. No doubt this further change in our lives can be accompanied by uncertainty, confusion and so on. Please be in touch with any of the 7/8 sub-school team or myself if we can assist in any way with your child’s happy return to school.

Along with the other Principals I visited the year 7 welcome back group activity of tower building with spaghetti and marshmallows. There were some pretty wonderful inventions and creativity was everywhere evident, yet the most valuable part of the activity was the opportunity to simply be together again with fellow students, enjoying a laugh and sharing stories and ideas. This week it will be our year 8s turn for this activity, when we welcome back years 8, 9 and 10 to the college. For the first time in many weeks all of our wonderful students will be back at school.

I want to remind year 7 families to contact Whittlesea council to ensure your child has taken part in the all-important immunisation program. These do not take place at the school, but at locations arranged by the council. See the number below for further information or consult the Whittlesea council website.
