Assistant Principal

11& 12

Ms. Julie Ryan

It’s great to be back onsite at the college with the return of face to face teaching for our Year 7, 11 and 12 students and I am excited to see all year levels return this week.

It’s been an incredibly busy term so far!

Year 11 students have transitioned back to their classrooms and onsite assessment and students are clearly very happy to be back in a routine. Not even a pandemic can stop our Year 11 students from organising their Year 12 Jackets for next year!

On Thursday the 22nd October, the year 11 candidates for School Captain, Sports Captain and Vice Captain in 2021, presented speeches to all Year 11 and 12 students via a ‘Teams’ assembly. The speeches were incredibly strong and demonstrate that our college has a wonderful group of student leaders who will make a significant contribution to the college in 2021. All year 11 and 12 students have voted and these positions will be announced during Orientation later in the term.

Year 12 students have transitioned well back to the college after what has been a challenging year. On Wednesday 7th October, we successfully held the General Achievement Test (GAT) which is the first of the VCAA external assessments.

From October 12th – October 15th, students completed their indicative exams which has given students a genuine sense of what their final VCAA exam period will look like and is a key component of their preparation moving forward.

As announced by the Education Minister, Mr Merlino, no Victorian student will be disadvantaged by the challenges faced by them this year. All schools are now working on the VCAA Consideration of Educational Disadvantage (CED) process in support of our students.  I thank all of the year 12 teachers for the work they are putting into this new process for our students in 2020.

This is the last week of Year 12 classes with their final day being Friday 30th of October. VCAA exams begin on Tuesday 10th of November.

Finally, I would like to say that in a very challenging year for any student, that our senior students have risen to the challenge and have demonstrated an incredible resilience, which gives me great confidence and pride in the achievements of our students.
