Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin Remote Learning Version 2, I wish you all well in managing the next six weeks in stage 3 lockdown. We have done this once and know the very real challenges that lie ahead. For our students it is learning as usual and the College has decided to continue to keep to the current timetable. It provides the framework for our staff and students to keep their usual routines. Leadership at Monivae will continually review the situation and adapt as required.

For some students, there may be adjustments to their learning and our wellbeing team are constantly monitoring the situation. Wellbeing is a specific focus and emphasis and it is vital your son or daughter remains well and connected to their peers and the Monivae community. None of us are alone in this ‘Remote Learning bubble’, although at times it may feel like it. If at any time you have concerns for your child, please don’t hesitate to contact the College for support. Mr Darren Beks, Director of Students, is the primary contact if you have any worries or need support. Email: dbeks@monivae.vic.edu.au or Phone: 0408521477.

After a review of our Remote Learning experience the first time, it has been decided to introduce two Learning Focus Days’ which will provide teachers and students an opportunity to plan, prepare, catch up and submit/mark their work without any scheduled classes.

The Learning Focus Days will be on Friday 21 August and Friday 4 September. These two days will be reflected in the College Calendar.

Remote Learning Guidelines have been updated and published to the community. These can be accessed via the Parent Access Module (PAM)/Knowledge Banks.

The Newsletter will be published every fortnight, until the end of term, and will include the Remote Learning Bulletin. The College’s new Newsletter format now provides the best platform to inform our Monivae community.

I am waiting for a VCAA update and will inform VCE and VCAL students of any changes when I receive this information.

Whilst we are now familiar with what ‘lockdown’ and online learning look and feel like, this situation presents renewed challenges as restrictions are placed upon our lives. Everyone will respond to these circumstances differently. As an MSC school, we must do all we can to care for each other. Love for one another is at the core of what we must all do.

Always remember that we remain a community although we are physically apart. We will accompany you through these challenges and we will emerge changed but grateful for our new appreciation of humanity.

Please stay safe, stay home and stay well.

Kind regards,

Jonathan Rowe
