School Council Report

Welcome back to school, which started on 9th June for all grades. Thanks to all parents, teachers and the School Team for making everything work successfully.

While we are taking it progressively back to normal routine, we are using our second School Council Meeting (on 23rd June via Webex) as part of a team-building process. I really appreciate the time and effort the team has invested in preparing us to build the school council team together.

We have ratified our updated School Council Standing Orders which is the foundation piece to assist us to operate efficiently and effectively within the legal framework and Department guidelines for school councils. As for the induction at the beginning of the new school council, we used the School Council Induction Video to help us understand the purpose, roles and responsibilities of school councils. We also discussed and completed the School Council Self-Assessment which is an important process for us to review our strengths and development areas as a team. It is an ongoing process to develop the school council to be more effective through collaboration, learning, self-review, teamwork and trust building.

All Sub-committee Conveners will soon arrange their sub-committee meetings in Term 3 to plan for the year and set up volunteer groups. We will keep the school community informed of all sub-committee meeting dates via the Rocket newsletter and to invite volunteers to join working groups. Here are our Sub-Committee Convenors:

  • Finance - Maulik Shah
  • Education - Lisa Macdermott
  • Fundraising - Raja Ravi
  • Parent Association - Lisa Macdermott

We will present the Syndal South Primary School Annual Report 2019 to the school community at the public Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 21st July at 7:00pm on Webex, followed by the School Council Meeting at 7:30pm. Parents and community members are welcome to join the Annual General Meeting. Details will be shared with you in the Rocket Newsletter and Compass.

Congratulations to our whole School Team for making the transition from on-site to online back to on-site school smoothly and successfully in this challenging time. As the school holidays are coming up next week, I wish you all a wonderful and safe term break.

Please take care and see you all in Term 3.
