Project Learning

STEM

This in the Sound STEM group we have been learning about Sound and how to make it. So far we have done activities using Physics and Math to understand vibrations. First we did research about tone and sound, next we made an instrument using vegetables like carrots, cucumbers and capsicum. Then we researched an instrument and now we are combining mathematics and engineering to construct an instrument using PVC pipes. We have had lots of fun during the two hours every Wednesday morning and we are learning a lot.

Mandatory Technology

Mr Lloyd's Y7 class has been studying the engineering and physics involved in the construction of a catapult. They have just finished their designs and have been testing their catapults to see which group can make an object travel the furthest. The winners of the challenge will each receive a hot chocolate made by the students participating in the Guyra Central School Cafe.

Mr Murray's Food Technology students have been very busy in the kitchen, cooking cupcakes and pancakes. The standard of work produced has been excellent.
