Year 12 2020

Year 12 2020

It has been a tough year for all of us, but spare a thought for the Year 12 students, who also have the added stress of completing their HSC studies and exams this year. The students have shown great resilience and have kept working diligently to complete their course work. At the moment, students are working with their teachers undertaking practice exam questions in preparation for the actual HSC exams, which will commence on Tuesday 20th October 2020.

Some students have also had the added pressure of completing a major work as a required part of their course. Students studying woodwork, metalwork and visual art have had to design and create a major piece of work, which is externally marked.

Melissa Hawthorne is our only student studying music. The music course has both a written and a performance component for its assessment. Last week the music examiner was in the school so that Melissa could complete, and be assessed on, her musical performance.

Normally the school would be holding the Year 12 Valedictory Assembly on Friday, (the last day of term 3). However, due to Covid restrictions the celebrations are being postponed until after the HSC examinations are complete. The students were pleased to learn that they can now have a Year 12 Formal, which they are in the midst of planning.

As the days quickly countdown to the HSC examination, we urge the Year 12 cohort to stay positive, stay focused, and to keep studying. We wish you all the very best of luck with your HSC exams, and with your future endeavours.

Mrs Vicki Leyland

2020, Year 12 Year Advisor

This Year Guyra Central School was lead by four capable young adults who always conduct themselves according to Guyra Centrals values. Sadly they were not able to carry out many official duties due to Covid protocols. There were many ideas that had to be shelved but the ladies were always accepting of the restrictions but what they could do they did with their usual enthusiasm and dedication to doing what was best for the school and its students.

On behalf of Guyra Central School I would like to thank Stephanie Cameron and Courtney Reeves for their work as School Captains and Colleen Pearson and Melissa Hawthorne for supporting them as Vice Captains
