The term that was... remote

Term 3 has seen the PE department get creative and face the challenges of taking a practical subject online. I would like to thank all members of the PE team for their hard work and dedication to provide an innovative and exciting online curriculum.

This term students have joined their teachers to participate in weekly workouts, learn new skills and concepts about sports, and participate in a variety of different work submissions from video uploads, photos to questions and quizzes on Google Classroom. Outdoor Education has also had to get creative with teaching the Outdoors at home, this has involved activities ranging from virtual hikes to testing waterproofing. It has been so nice to see our students embracing these challenges and submitting their best work. Here are some examples of Year 7s participating in home gymnastics, 7Ms trick shots, Year 9s getting creative and practicing their Hockey skills and a waterproofing challenge in Outdoor Education.

Term 3 has also seen Sport go online with students participating in the School Sport Victoria Virtual Track and Field Championships where we are currently 1st in the state. Students have also participated in a range of activities including ‘around the world’ and ‘sport jump’ challenges. Students have enjoyed uploading videos of their success in these challenges. I would like to thank Liam Adlington for creating these experiences for our junior students.

During Term 3 we have also seen the school community come together to compete in whole school challenges such as MCK Going the Distance. Look out at the start of Term 4 for our next challenge using Strava MCK Going Local, all details will be on compass soon.
