JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Mr  Stephen Quinn

Junior Sub School Manager

It is so hard to believe that we have now been working and learning from home for 6 weeks! And even though it may make some people happy and others sad we have an end in sight with all students from the Junior School returning to face to face learning on Tuesday, 9 June. No learning will be occurring remotely from this date, unless otherwise organised for special circumstances, so we look forward to seeing everyone back.

Due to the unique circumstances we are experiencing, some things are understandably going to be a little different to normal in the coming weeks.

Exams

Normally the end of Term 2 would see the commencement of exam week. It has been decided that Semester 1 exams will not be conducted, but will instead be replaced with a summative assessment task for students in Years 7 – 10 to be conducted in normal class time.

Athletics Day

Our annual Athletics Day sadly had to be cancelled at the end of Term 1 due to lock down. Luckily Mr Scott and his VCAL class have created a substitute in the shape of an online athletics competition. This involves a series of physical and fun activities that students can complete, submit and earn points for their houses. This will be occurring for the junior students in week 8 so keep an eye out.

There will be other changes that students will be informed of when they return in regards to social distancing, personal hygiene, break times, etc., but we will endeavour to ensure the return to school is as easy as possible for everyone.

Until then stay safe, stay healthy and keep up the good work ethic!
