Find out ways you can help our school

A Bike Trail?

One of the positive surprises of our current lock down and social restrictions is seeing how children and families have found ways to entertain themselves and stay active in the absence of organised sports.

It has been particularly great to see the number of students out and about in Albert Park on their bikes, practicing their jumps and developing their BMX and Mountain Biking skills on temporary trails and home made jumps.

At our recent Building and Grounds sub-committee meeting, we discussed how fantastic it would be if there was a purpose-built trail in the Park for the community.

Looking at the section of park immediately to the back of the school, we thought that the currently unused and overgrown area to the side of the path might be an ideal location. Such a project would also allow the current bike path to be re-routed away from the school playground and kitchen garden and therefore remove an existing safety issue.

We are keen to explore this idea further, including how we might sell it to Parks Victoria and other local decision makers. We would love to hear from any parents with the passion or skills  to help us with this work - please get in touch with me on neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au
