Cross Country
This year our HHS Cross Country event was held within the school grounds. The students from Years 7-9 and Mr M’s Year 11 PE class all completed 10+ laps of our school oval to participate in the 3 kilometre run.
We had encouraged our students to begin training for the event whilst they were learning remotely and after signing up to an app ‘Bolt for Gold’, it was exciting to watch students and staff record some pretty impressive times before their big day arrived.
It came as no surprise that regular app user Aemelia Stevenson maintained her fast pace throughout the warm up 1k and 2k weeks, coming home fastest in the Under 13 girls.
All our Year level Champions are listed below:
Under 13 Girls: Aemelia Stevenson
Under 13 Boys: Samuel Gommers
Under 14 girls: Ishie Stock
Under 14 boys: Riley Cameron
Under 15 girls: Makenzee Harbinson
Under 15 boys: Connor Fallon
Under 16 girls: Jordyn Agnew
Under 16 boys: Xander Synott
Open girls champion: Jacinta Scragg
Congratulations to all the classes, students and staff who contributed to making this a smooth, well run and fun event. The weather was perfect for all but one class.
Mr Holland’s Year 8b students had to run their 10 laps in 1.2°C even as the temperature gauge stated it “feels like”-0.6°C!!
Unfortunately there won’t be any Cross Country at Division, Regional or State this year, so I look forward to seeing everyone run again next year.
