Principal's Notes

A note from the Principal

Hi everyone

With less than one week until the end of term two I am certain of two things. Firstly, the Healesville High School community has done an absolutely sterling job of navigating our way through the most complex and challenging school term in living memory and secondly, we cannot fall for the trap of believing the COVID-19 crisis has been totally defeated.

When we return to commence the second half of the school year we will have the strongest possible focus upon academic achievement and improved student outcomes AND we will continue to have staff and student safety at the forefront of our thinking.

Thank you to staff, students and parents for your amazing efforts this year; you have achieved incredible results whilst working as a co-operative and supportive team. I have said this before but it is worth repeating- we should all be incredibly proud to be a part of this school community; I am proud of all that you have achieved.

Thank you to those who have taken the time to contribute to this week’s edition of ‘Connections’.  As previously mentioned, we have reverted to a fortnightly publication whilst retaining what we believe to be the more entertaining and personalised format we introduced during the remote learning period.

I am sure you will enjoy this week’s edition. ‘Five questions’ again gives us a brief personal ‘look’ into the lives of staff and students. Interesting that Mrs Morley finds Mrs Mitchell’s jokes funny – I suppose someone has to. Congratulations to each of the student ‘stars’, this week’s ‘stars’ are a particularly deserving group. Thank you to Ethan Nikcevich for his reflections on remote learning, or ‘lockdown’ more broadly. In just a few paragraphs Ethan expressed his thoughts impressively and gave me a clear insight into his life and that of his family during the past three months.

Best wishes for the upcoming holiday period everyone, stay safe.
