FRENCH

My home village in Brittany (North-West of France)

Bonjour à tous!

I hope you are all doing well and enjoyed the 'vacances d'hiver' (winter holidays).

This Term will be quite different in French, compared to our previous remote learning weeks.

I will see each Grade fortnightly rather than weekly and I will see each class in two separate groups, to make it more enjoyable for our online meetings. Each group session will last for 30 minutes during which we will do a short lesson followed by a simple activity together. This will make it a lot easier for the students and for you, the parents.... no more sound issues, no more problems trying to open the PowerPoint presentations, no more assignments to submit. Everything will be done online with me.

Please make sure that your child has his/her French notebook ready (or a sheet of paper) when s/he joins the scheduled meeting.  They will also need a grey lead, a rubber, some coloured pencils (and a writing pen for the older students).  Nothing else will be needed for French and you won't have to print anything.  They will draw and write everything in their notebooks.

While we are in remote learning, I will keep our lessons very simple and the activities fun and easy to complete, which means that they won't need your help during the lesson (the younger ones might just need assistance to log in to their meeting).

Here is an example of my French session with Grade 5/6 students this week:

Following a slide presentation (I shared my screen with them and they just had to watch on their screen and listen to me), we learned a few new expressions and discussed the slides together. They then watched a short video and followed instructions to learn how to draw the map of France.  Together they filled in their map with the 10 biggest French cities and wrote down the new expressions on the same page.

Bonne fin de semaine et à bientôt! (Enjoy the end of the week and talk to you again soon!)
