COLLEGE SPORT REPORT

TERM 2- WEEK 6, 2020

It was very good to see the students return last week to the College with lots of questions regarding the future of College sport. Their eagerness to return to training and games is clearly evident and I look forward to delivering some good news in the not too distant future.

The College is following the “Return to Play” guidelines as set out by the AIS and NSW Health. In the coming weeks, after we receive more relevant information pertaining to MCS competitions, the College will plan to return to trials for MCS Winter/Spring sports and provide a variety of physical activities on the College grounds for the students to engage in.

I encourage all students at the College to start/continue their individual training in preparation for the return of all or some forms of sport and physical activity. If you require drills or training programs or advice to improve your individual skills, please make contact to receive resources.

If you have questions regarding sport in Term 2 or Term 3, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College. I look forward to transitioning back into all forms of College sport in the near future so that the boys can demonstrate their talent, skills and abilities in the sports they love.

Cross Country

The students of Years 7 to 10 have been completing a 2.5km Cross Country time trial in their PDHPE lessons over the past 2 weeks in preparation for the College Cross Country Carnival for “Competitor’s Only”. The top 25 students from each age group plus Year 12 will be invited to run on Thursday 11 June in sport time. Students will have timetabled lessons if they are not competing.

  • In period 4 (12:29pm – 1:29pm) the Junior students (12, 13, 14 and 15 years) will run.
  • In period 5 (1:29pm – 2:29pm) the Senior students (16, 17 and Opens) will run.

With Cross Country representative pathways being removed this year from representative sport, the College took the opportunity to hold the carnival so we can still name Age Champions and earn much needed House Points. This carnival will provide the boys with much needed competitive energy to replace some of the activities that have been removed from the College sporting calendar.

With several classes still to run the time trial, we can congratulate the following students for their efforts so far. Please find the top 5 runners for each Age Group below:

House Cup

With limited sport and other co-curricular events taking place, House Points have been topped up by staff allocating daily merits from the online learning activities the boys have been engaging in over the past few weeks. Kicking goals in the classroom has been a massive contributor to Molloy holding a very slim lead over Kilian.
