Around The Primary
Dear Parents
While it has certainly been a very challenging time for us all, it is wonderful having the students back at school, keen to learn and appreciative of being in the classroom and school environment.
I ask that you continue to support our staff as they will be putting emphasis on a mindset of persistence, having-a-go, working hard, cooperating and collaborating within their classrooms. As the students are readjusting to the school environment and navigating their way through friendships we will be reinforcing the high expectation we have of treating others with care and respect.
While restrictions slowly begin to be lifted, it is also a time for ongoing vigilance. Your support in ensuring the guidelines below are followed would be greatly appreciated:
- Parents/Guardians are NOT to go directly to classrooms;
- Where possible, please make appointments outside of the school day;
- If your child is unwell, please keep them at home;
- For students who have essential appointments (e.g. doctor, dentist, OT etc), the College must be notified via primary.absentees@johnxxiii.edu.au
Most of the students are in correct school uniform and they look fantastic! We do expect all students to be dressed correctly each day and have neat and tidy hairstyles. Our uniform requirements can be found here:
Extended hours and appointments are now available from the Uniform Shop. Please follow this link http://www.johnxxiii.edu.au/view/for-parents/uniform-shop
With parents unable to enter the school site, we fully appreciate that this situation can feel strange and a little unsettling for families. On a positive note, our little PreKindy, Kindy and PrePrimary children have all proven themselves to be absolute heroes, facing any fears, showing great resilience and walking confidently from the car park to their classroom! A top job everyone, especially to those Mums and Dads who were a little teary at the start too! We hope you enjoy the clip of our young students back to school with big smiles on their faces!
We all have much to feel grateful for and I believe we can now look forward with greater optimism to what we hope will be a calm, settled, healthy, productive and enjoyable term ahead.
Kind regards
Antoinette De Pinto

Appointments
For students who have essential appointments (e.g. doctor, dentist, OT etc.) the College must be notified by email. The following details are required to be sent to primary.absentees@johnxxiii.edu.au
- Name and class of child/ren
- Date and time of appointment
- Time absent from school
Parents/Guardians will then need to collect their child/ren from Main Administration. Upon return, students must come to Main Administration prior to going back to class.
Dogs at School
We request that dogs are not brought to school. Despite the best behaviour of pets, there are children who are frightened of dogs or are allergic to dogs.
Thank you for your co-operation on this matter.
