Principal's Notes

A note from the Principal

I remain amazed by the outstanding work being completed by students, parents and staff members throughout the remote learning period and now, at this stage where some students are working from home and some are back on-site, those astonishing efforts are continuing.  Today I have taken the opportunity to focus solely upon the efforts of the HHS staff.

After one week of teachers and support staff being a combination of remote and face to face educators I think it is appropriate to shine a light on their achievements.

The smoothness of the return to on-site operations last week was remarkable.  Still, there should be no surprise that it was so smooth – look at how well our staff members have handled the past nine weeks!

A recent article in the Herald Sun summed up their work over recent times, in my opinion- I’ve paraphrased it a little!

‘It is important to recognise just what has happened in education over the past couple of months. It has been the biggest educational change in more than 100 years. With little notice and minimal preparation time, teachers and support staff were able to undertake unprecedented adaptation and innovation, to ensure that education would continue during the most difficult of times. Never have we been so proud of our teachers and support staff who have selflessly put the needs of students above their own, whilst juggling the needs of their own families, health concerns, social isolation and lock down’.

Sprinkle the name Healesville High School through the paragraph above and it summarises the work of our teachers and support staff, in my view. Brilliant work, everyone!

Please enjoy this week’s edition of Connections. Once again, it is an entertaining insight into the lives of those in our school community.

It was good to read about Mr Nedumannil, to learn a little more about him. He clearly doesn’t know a great deal about me if he thinks I don’t enjoy eating!  Jad, on the other hand, was very much on the right track.

I appreciated the efforts of Mr Fisher in organizing a staff portrait competition and enjoyed reading the answers to questions posed to various students and staff members.

Congratulations to James, Grace, Kiah, Connor, Damian and Rosie for their Student of the Week recognition.

This is an initiative we will continue when we return fully to on-site operations.

Finally we are looking forward with great

anticipation to seeing our Years 7-10 students again, on Tuesday June 9.

Best Wishes
