Mid-Year Learning Expo

Following the success of last year’s Mid-Year Learning Expo we are proud to present an exhibition of our student learning on Tuesday 26th June, 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity for families to engage in a celebration of the learning conducted over the first half of the year. Children across all year levels will be showcasing their learning and families will have the opportunity to visit all learning communities.

A full program of events will be published and distributed to families in the coming weeks. Please mark this important event in your diaries.

PFA Meeting

Our next PFA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 12th June commencing at 7:00pm. It would be wonderful to see as many people there as possible. Don’t worry if you didn’t attend the last meeting, we would love to see you at this one.

Book Club

Thank you for supporting Book Club! When you purchase from Book Club, the school gets back twenty cents for every dollar you spend in rewards. Last year we raised over $900 that the school used to purchase some great literacy and numeracy resources.

Issue 4 is now available with some great books on offer - check it out.

Issue 4 orders are due before or at 9am on Thursday 8th June. Please note that no late orders will be accepted. There are two ways to order:  return your catalogue to the office with correct change, or you can order online and pay with your credit card via the Scholastic website or download the app. Happy reading!

Head Lice

In recent weeks we have had a number of reported cases of head lice. Parents have been notified when a case has been reported in a learning area. Head lice are not a cause for serious concern, however, they are extremely contagious.

In order to determine if your child has been infected with head lice, we are asking all parents to inspect their child’s hair. We suggest that you look for the following symptoms or signs that would indicate the presence of head lice:

  • General: child scratching his/her head excessively
  • On pillows: fine black powder or pale coloured material.
  • In the hair: signs of lice eggs (nits) – cream or coffee coloured specks close to hair roots.
  • Lice: small white or “greyish” parasites the approximate size of a pinhead.

If you notice any of the above signs, or if you require further information, please contact your local pharmacy.  There are several effective treatments readily available and easy to apply.

If your child is infected with head lice you MUST advise the school and you MUST treat your child before they return to school.

To minimise the impact of a head lice outbreak we ask all parents to regularly check their child’s hair for the presence of head lice.

Cross Country Competition

Today Armani Mauriohooho, Jett Thomas, Xavier Healey, Brendan Nguyen and Kadin Miller competed in the Maribyrnong Division Cross Country Championship at Brimbank Park. All children completed their course and proudly represented our school. Thank you to the parents who took the children to the competition and congratulations to the competitors. They all returned to school with big smiles after a fun morning!

Planning Weeks

Over the next few weeks, staff across all year levels will be given time to plan extensively in preparation for Term 3.

Timetables will vary for students on some days especially in relation to specialist classes - Visual Arts, Physical Education and Italian.

Next Tuesday 12th June is the planning day for the Prep and Year 1/2 teachers. All  children in Prep N, Prep V, Yr 1/2C and   and Yr 1/2H will need to wear their PE uniform that day.

Have a wonderful week

God bless
