Principal's Report

Japanese Visitors

Tuesday was a sad day for many Brentwood staff and students as we bid farewell to our twenty eight visitors from Ono Senior High school. Our Japanese visitors were with their host families for twelve days and experienced daily life as a Brentwood student for six. In line with tradition, the exchange concluded with a Sayonara party on Monday evening. I would like to thank our host families who opened their houses to our visitors, this program cannot exist if our school community does not help the college with hosting. Thank you to the Brentwood teachers that  welcomed their new Japanese students into their classes and to those who provided specialised classes in Physical education, Food Technology, Art, English, Science and German. Finally, this form of exchange takes many hours of organisation, the Ono trip could not have happened if it was not for Tracey Campion . Thank you Tracey for your skills as an interpreter and your tenacity in organising a complex program. We look forward to December 2019 when Brentwood students travel to Ono to experience the beauty and uniqueness of Japan.

In The Heights

On Tuesday 14th August, our performing arts team of 60 students and many staff will be opening our production of “In The Heights”. The college production is always a highlight of the school year. The students never cease to impress our community with their singing, dancing and acting abilities. We encourage the college community to come along and share in what we are sure will be an amazing and professional experience. Tickets are selling fast, so book now via trybooking – www.trybooking.com/ULKI.  We wish the team all the best going into the final stages of the preparation and wish them ‘Chookas’ for opening night.

Sports Update

Brentwood has once again excelled on the sporting field. Recently we have become Eastern Metropolitan Region champions in both Junior boy’s netball and Senior boys AFL. Congratulations to both of these teams and their coaches. The college community wish both teams the best of luck in their respective state semi-finals. Our athletics teams have been training hard for the upcoming Divisional athletics meet on August 28. Good luck to those athletes.

PRIDE Week is coming……

The student leadership team are planning a week that celebrates five important values to the Brentwood community. These are:

P – Positivity

R – Resilience

I – Integrity

D – Diversity

E - Excellence

There will be student-led activities each day from Monday August 20 to Friday August 24 to celebrate each of these values.

Please keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks and we encourage all students to get involved!
