French Poetry Competition

The Berthe Mouchette Poetry Competition run by the Alliance Française de Melbourne is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. Students of French from around Victoria enter the competition by learning a French poem off by heart and then reciting it in front of a native French-speaking judge.

This year Clifton Hill Primary School entered 49 students in the competition from Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6, with great success. Of these students, 19 made it through to the final round, held on Sunday 18th August in St Kilda. As part of this round finalists recited their poem again, this time in front of two judges.

Results from the finals will be published on Wednesday 18th September. All our participants can be proud of the amazing work they have done at French Club and at home and we wish all our finalists the best of luck.
