Dads Footy Carnival 2019

FONY Update

Further to our recent newsletter articles the Fathers Of North Yarra (FONY) team proudly represented Clifton Hill Primary School at the Dads Footy Carnival day on Sat Aug 31st.

After many fun and wet training sessions 25 FONY dad’s played 3 games against other NQR primary school dads from Port Melbourne, Middle Park and Hampton.

The games were fast and willing (relative to our vintage) with the FONY’s showing amazing form to beat the home team in our 1st game, lose by 2 points in our 2nd game and lose to the eventual carnival winners in our 3rd game. A great effort for a team that only came together a few short weeks ago. The day was enjoyed in great spirit and we were proudly cheered on by partners and children from the sidelines – so a big thanks to them for giving Dads the time to participate in this event.

A big thank-you also to our sponsors Lump Sculpture Studio, Castano Kitchen and Bathroomware, and Laguna pools for providing shorts, socks and shelter for the day. A big shout-out also to the Fitzroy Football Club, for loaning us 30 Jumpers for the day – amazing thank-you.

This event originated with the idea of “supporting men’s health through community, friendships and physical activity” by getting primary school dads together for a social day of footy – and it definitely delivered on that front for the CHPS dads.

Based on the success of the day, we are certain that a team will form for next year’s event, and the more the merrier welcome next time around.
