Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

This will be the final newsletter for term 3 as I have headed off to China with a number of our grade 6 students.  This is a wonderful experience for our students as not only will they expand their Mandarin vocabulary and understanding of Chinese culture, they also spend 4 nights with a family from our sister school.  This experience will be something they remember for a long time.

At the end of this term we farewell our Mandarin teacher, Kevin Yang.  Kevin has accepted a position at Brunswick South West Primary School, commencing Term 4.  Kevin has been with the school for 8 years and we have seen the Mandarin program grow from an elective program to over 300 students studying Mandarin as their LOTE choice.  Kevin has also been an integral part of our Sister School program during his time at CHPS.  We thank Kevin for his contributions over the past 8 years and wish him all the best at his new school.  Next term we welcome Jenny Ni and Ann Chew who will be teaching grades 4 to 6 until the end of the year.

In the last newsletter, a group of students put the call out for "climate experts" who could help them spread the word about how our community can prevent Climate Change.  They have been inundated with emails from parents and are now planning their next steps.  They also provided information about the upcoming School Strike for Climate Australia on Friday 20th September.  Please refer to the following link, https://www.schoolstrike4climate.com/, or the previous newsletter for more information.

Thank you to the School Council Fundraising and Community building subcommittes for organising the Trivia Night last weekend.  It was a great night and I look forward to it becoming an annual event on the school calendar.

Looking forward to seeing you next term.
