Principal's Report

As Term 1 comes to a close and as I write this report, I reflect on how busy the term has been.  This week alone we have Year 12 half yearly exams under way, three students swimming at the state titles in Sydney, students competing in lawn bowls and our cattle team is in Sydney competing in the Sydney Royal Easter Show.  Each of these activities and the many others that take place at Wee Waa High require significant endeavour and effort over a long period of time to reach this point.

I am proud of the terrific effort our staff make and the interest they take in aligning as far as possible the education offering we provide to each individual student’s interests and aspirations.

This year’s Year 7 cohort continue to settle in well under the leadership of their Year Advisor, Mr James Vella.  The mentor program he implemented this year which saw each Year 7 student being carefully paired with a year 10 ‘buddy’ has enabled them to quickly adapt to their new education environment and feel a part of the student community.

This week we will be electing our Student Representative Council (SRC) members who will fulfil a two year term.  Under the guidance of Ms Stephenie Blewitt, the focus is to build the skills of the SRC members as a whole, including developing their knowledge of organisational structure, working with a constitution and how to be a strong advocate for their individual year group.  These skills will serve SRC members well in life after school when serving on community groups and organisations and in their respective careers.

In closing, I wish all of our staff, students and their families an enjoyable and safe Easter and term break and look forward to even greater educational endeavour in Term 2.

Yours sincerely

Annabel Doust
