Learning and Teaching Update
SMART spelling is an engaging approach to teach spelling. Teachers start by teaching the meaning of words to expand vocabulary then break each of the words in syllables, sounds and letter patterns which we call graphs, diagraphs and trigraphs. It is a simple routine that was developed by Michelle Hutchinson who was an inspiration to listen to when our educators in level 3/4/5/6 attended her spelling workshop this week. We can’t wait to start incorporating all that we learnt during our professional development session and put that into our classrooms to see more growth and confidence in all our spellers! #everyoneflourishing#teachersarearnerstoo
