MacKillop & Polding Swimming Championships

On Monday it was a big day in the pool at Homebush.

Our swimmers represented St Joseph’s and the Wollongong Diocese with pride. It was noted they all displayed high skill levels and were champions in and out of the pool!

The relay teams or swimmers who finished in the top 3 in each event will progress to the next level of the representative pathway which is the NSW PSSA Swim Championships.

We congratulate the following students on gaining representation at the next level and wish them the best of luck next week when they compete on Wednesday.

50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley and 50m Freestyle - London C

Butterfly - Alex V

 Junior Boys Relay - Owen O, Callan P, Alex V, Kobi C

Junior Girls Relay - Andi K, Miniva B, Sadie J, London C

Thank you to all students and parents who attended the championships, for your continued encouragement and support of one another.

Hockey Program

On Wednesday of this week, or next week (depending on the weather) students in Yrs 1-5 will participate in their last Hockey session.

The program has been a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn new skills in an engaging way. Students and staff have enjoyed trying something new! Here is what some of our students had to say about the skills and drills:

I enjoyed learning the skills of hockey including dragging and learning the different names for the parts of a hockey stick. I also liked playing hockey games including Hockey Octopus. (Sebastian B 4J)

I learnt how to pass and receive in hockey. I learnt not to whack the ball, just to do a little hit with the hook on the ground so you can receive it. I enjoyed it lots.

(Hamish B 1M)

The hockey people were fun and taught us how to hold the stick properly so we could move the ball. I loved the octopus game we played at the end of every lesson.

(Sophia J, 1M)
