On Thursday the 18th of March, an auction of farm equipment was held at the farm of the Bertoldi Family. This family donated the land for the school and their farm is just down the road from the school. Larnook P & C was kindly allowed to sell sausages, drinks, cakes, scones and tea and coffee at the event which was attended by nearly two hundred people! The stall raised around $750 with a profit of roughly $520!
Many thanks to Sam and Rob Glover who put in a lot of time organising the event and cooking food.
On the day, Sam, Brendon Glover, Megan (Astella’s mum), Alicia (Jed’s mum), Gaye and Sherrell all pitched in and helped with the stall. What a great result and a big thank you goes to all helpers and organisers.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
Our school will be participating in NAPLAN Online between 11 and 21 May 2021.
In preparation for NAPLAN Online, our school will also be participating in practice tests between 22 March and 1 April. The practice test is a trial-run and key preparation activity for NAPLAN Online in May. It is not an assessment of student ability and the tests will not be marked.
Excessive preparation for NAPLAN Online is not recommended. Students can use the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in the NAPLAN Online tests.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have started a new rewards programme called Worker of the Week. Each week, teachers will choose an individual from each class who has worked really hard throughout the week to complete their schoolwork to the best of their ability. They will then be rewarded with thirty minutes of free time with a friend of their choice.
So far the hard workers have been Sonic and Mahni and Astella and Kyesha. Congratulations to these children who have been working really well.
