VCAL

VCAL - DJ

Marta Miranda is a 1993 graduate from Killester College. On Tuesday the 27th of April, she kindly donated her time and expertise to show the VCAL students some basic DJ skills. It was a very enjoyable session and we would like to thank Marta for coming in and hopefully inspiring the next generation of female DJs.

Student feedback includes

"She was very informal about her career path. She gave good advice if we wanted to be a female DJ." Kelsea

"It was interesting to see all the buttons and to have a go at using these to mix songs." Kartika

"We have never had a DJ at school before. I can see this as a future hobby and money earner." Lily

VCAL - Beauty Students

The Year 12 VCAL Beauty students kindly offered to provide mini-manicures for the teachers and staff at Killester College in honour of Mother's Day. This also provided an opportunity to show off the skills they have gained from their VET course in beauty. Other girls created origami love hearts to give to teachers. Well done girls on such a kind gesture.

Sasha said "It was good to use the skills I learned from TAFE at school for the teachers."

VCAL - St Kilda Mums

The Year 12 VCAL students have been visiting St Kilda Mums, which is a wonderful way to give back to others by sorting out children's clothing.

Student feedback included:

“It was a great learning experience preparing the less fortunate for the realities of life such as unplanned pregnancies.”  Tereza

“It was nice to help the less fortunate. It made me feel good because I didn’t expect anything in return.” Junjila

“It felt rewarding to help people. Sorting the baby clothes made me look forward to when I am old enough to have a baby.” Vanessa S
